One 15-year-old cat named Dougie at the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland in Maine just wants to snuggle with people. In fact, he wants to be held full time. When he wasn’t being held, the staff said that his meow could be heard from “galaxies far away.” To accommodate Dougie and also make his life at the shelter a little brighter, the staff came up with a great plan. Let’s take a look at what they came up with.
To help this cuddly cat cope with the stress of shelter life, the staff decided to enlist the help of a Baby Bjorn Carrier. The carrier allows Dougie to be held most of the day while the staff can still do their jobs.
Jean Roth, the director of community engagement at the shelter described Dougie’s personality. She said,
“He loves affection and to be near his people all the time. He’s also very chatty and will even give kisses when you ask him for them. He gets along well with other pets and even grooms them.”
Dougie Gets Adopted!
The shelter staff shared some adorable photos of Dougie. As you may have imagined, it did not take long for the photos to go viral. Dougie quickly became an internet sensation. Along with all of that fame, people became interested in adopting him. Within a day, Dougie got adopted! His new human mom is totally smitten with Dougie, and promises to hold him all she can.
