Hikers Come Across Rare Sight of Own Swimming in a Canyon

Derrick Zuk and a group of his friends were hiking through a canyon in Lake Powel, somewhere in Arizona and Utah, when they came across a jaw-dropping sight. They managed to capture the breathtaking moment on camera, and now it has gone viral on the web.

The clip shows an owl swimming. National Geographic reports that it is probably a great horned owl and that it still appears to have some of its nestling feathers. It is highly likely that it had an accident and fell from its nest right into the water.

Owls are unable to take flight from water, but they can swim to land before taking off again. Derrick went back to the same spot some hours later along with his group, but the owl was nowhere to be seen. He had probably taken flight already.
