Traditional Chinese medicine considers bear bile as a miracle remedy. Because of this, thousands of these animals are kept in tiny cages with a collection device around their bodies. This object is pure torture! Fortunately, thanks to good people who fight for the rights of living beings, several bears have been rescued.
In order to extract the “miracle” bile from the bears, they leave an open wound in their belly. Then the animals are wrapped in collection devices which are known as torture vests. They collect bile from their gallbladder. This horrible practice is countered by the organization Animals Asia, which actively works to stop this animal torture.
The association estimates that more than 10,000 bears in China live in these terrible conditions. Unfortunately, this serious problem also extends to neighboring countries. Some bears have been lucky enough to be rescued by Animals Asia.
Tuffy lived his entire life locked up in a small cage in a bile factory in Vietnam. He was tortured and abused … all because of traditional Asian medicine. Finally, the bear is rescued after years of suffering thanks to the wonderful association. The vets had to take out her gall bladder, because she was seriously affected.
After a long recovery time, he was ready for a new life in a nature reserve, with plenty of space.
Another bear named Caesar was also saved by Animals Asia. He was wearing one of those terrible metal vests, described as torture vests.
The bear is rescued after 9 long years of pain and sorrow. Now the animal is enjoying its freedom.
“Caesar’s scar has disappeared, and now it is in incredible shape and weighs a total of 271 kilos,” said the organization’s staff.
Luckily Tuffy and Ceasar were saved, but not every bear is so lucky …
