Dogs are loyal companions and would never abandon their family. They can adjust to change and should not be thought of as disposable. Adding to a family is cause for celebration, not abandonment. Sadly, one adorable pit bull was dropped off at a shelter when his family found out that they were having baby.

The nervous dog, named Smiley, was surrendered to a crowded shelter in Brooklyn, New York. The dog was betrayed by his family and then placed on the “kill list” because the shelter stated, “He has been noted to become uncomfortable with handling at times, especially when a person is reaching over him.” He was not labeled as aggressive and no health issues.

Julie Carner, proud foster mom to Pitties, posted, “I’M A GOOD BOY, I WOULD HAVE LOVED THAT NEW BABY! – PLEASE HELP ME, I DONT WANT TO DIE … By all accounts he is a just about perfect – friendly and outgoing, loves to play with his ball toys along with squeaky toys, house-trained, he knows commands sit, stay and come in SPANISH, if he pulls on the leash he will slow down when told to, no guarding issues.”

The post caught the attention of Olena Kagui while riding the subway with her husband. Usually she has to pass the sad images, but something about the dog’s sad eyes begging for help made her stop. Kagui said, “I started bawling when I saw that no one in the comments said they could take him,” Kagui said. “My husband noticed me crying, read the post and said, ‘We can’t get a dog right now.’”

Instead of giving up, Kagui convinced her husband to foster Smiley. She immediately reached out and found out that Pound Hounds Res-Q, a local rescue group, was working on rescuing Smiley from the shelter but needed a foster. That is where Kagui and her husband came in.

Smiley was neutered and then headed to his new foster home. At first, he was very nervous and shy. “He drank some water and it was … clear that he was house-trained, [and] knew not to jump on the bed or to chew anything except for his toys. But he wouldn’t settle down or look at me all day,” recalls Kagui.

The betrayed pup needed time to trust humans again. After a few days, he started to warm up and showed more affection. With some helpful tips on a harness and walking, they brought Smiley to a park with other dogs. “He was much calmer, pulled less and loved being surrounded by dogs and people.”

The couple quickly fell in love with Smiley and have decided to adopt him. “Smiley already feels like part of our family,” Kagui said. “It doesn’t take long for a foster dog to make their way into your heart. Our home would already feel empty without him here.”

She advocates for scared shelter dogs by posting, “Smiley is proof that all shelter dogs deserve a second chance and even if they have issues at the shelter, they might be completely fine outside of a stressful environment!”

Please take the time to share this story with your friends and loved ones.

There’s nothing quite like the warm snuggly feeling of holding a puppy. At a close second must be the bubbly grin of a baby, but dare we imagine them both together?

The babies in this video are completely overjoyed by their furry friends. And their joy is downright contagious.

Dogs look at their family as their pack and would never abandon them. People need to look at dogs as members of the family and not as disposable objects when life changes. A loving 3-year-old German Shepherd was dumped by his family because they found out they were having a baby.

The young dog named Rocco was hunched over and shaking like a leaf in the back of a kennel at Dallas Animal Services. His family abandoned him there and he did not know why. His sad eyes looked up asking ‘why am I here?’ to anyone who walked by. A shelter can be very stressful with all the unfamiliar smells, noises, and people.

A woman visiting the shelter noticed Rocco trembling in fear, so she took a video and posted it online in hopes that a rescue group would take in the gentle dog. Preethi Pillaipakkam, a foster through DFW German Shepherd Rescue, saw the video and immediately went to the shelter to rescue Rocco.

“The shelter is certainly not the environment for a dog like Rocco,” Pillaipakkam said. “He was very timid and scared to get into the car. He even hid beneath the seat in the car. He was pacing a bit and seemed very stressed.”

Rocco was underweight, weighing only 60 pounds. Pillaipakkam took Rocco home to relax and come out of his shell. At first, Rocco was very timid and confused as to where he was. Slowly, with the help of another German Shepherd in the home, Rocco started to play with toys.

“This is a giant step for Rocco who had completely shut down,” posted Pillaipakkam to an Instagram page made just for Rocco.

Hundreds of applications came pouring in for Rocco after his shelter video went viral. A lucky woman was chosen to be Rocco’s new mom. He will spend his days playing with another dog and cuddling with his new family. His new mom took over his Instagram page, so be sure to continue to follow it for updates on Rocco.

Shadow is a beautiful dog, as you can see, and she’s also pretty darn sweet. This family got a baby goat and the two just took to one another. Have you ever seen two animals that are so different be this loving?

But this husky and baby are taking that companionship to a, uh…different level. Like, they actually seem to be having a conversation—isn’t that wild? This husky and baby clearly have a lot to talk about, and they don’t care who knows it. Alternative theory: maybe the husky is thinking, “whoever howls the best gets the treat?”

The two best buds in the video below have decided to entertain one another by engaging in a game of tag around the kitchen table. Mom and Dad record the adorable act as their German Shepherd and toddler take turns chasing each other around! That is one patient gentle giant of a dog to play with his human brother in such a way.

Prince is the perfect nanny dog and his family is lucky to have him in their life

Sara Lebwohl and her husband Zach’s story is one of those that makes everyone go ‘aww.’ This lovely family of three, the couple and their dog Prince, welcomed their bundle of joy two years ago and their lives became even better than before. The sweet baby daughter not only brought happiness in their days, but she filled the life of Prince with pleasant feelings too.

Little Halle and her furry sibling clicked right away and they’ve been best friends ever since.

Prince somehow knew a new addition to the family was on the way even before Halle enter his life. During her pregnancy, he would never leave Sara’s side and would always make sure she is in a good mood.

“When she first came home, he went right up to her and sniffed her,” Sara told The Dodo. “He knew she was little and fragile. But he always stayed close and kept a very close eye on her. He was truly a nanny dog from the first day.”

The two have all the fun together and enjoy being around each other’s side.

But Prince isn’t just a friend to Halle. He’s her caretaker who is always making sure she is safe and smiling.

Now as Halle turned two and she started sleeping in her own room, her mom and dad have to wake up during the night whenever they realize their baby girl is restless. During these night visits to her room, Prince would always accompany them just to be sure Halle is ok.

Well, this gave them the idea to leave the doors of both rooms a bit open during the night so that Prince can leave his parents’ bedroom, check up on Halle, and make her company until she gets back to sleep again.

This turned out to be an awesome idea as Prince enjoys his role of a nanny.

<script async src="https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js?client=ca-pub-3863380614073753"

“Surprisingly it has worked out well,” Sara said. “We crack the door open for him when she gets up, and he walks in to greet her. He has a little routine he does, including rolling around on the ground. Then he will look at her and lay down. The amazing thing is that this calms her, and she goes back to sleep.”

This facilitated Sara and Zach’s lives a great deal. They can have their sleep knowing Halle is in safe hands.

“Prince has been an unexpected savior, allowing us a bit more precious minutes to hours of sleep. When he walks in the room, we know she is in good paws and we can all get some more rest,” Sara said.

Both Halle and her parents are extremely lucky to have such caring pet as Prince. They know their daughter would turn into a great child because of all the love she gets from her furry best friend.

“He takes his job as protective big brother very seriously,” Sara said. “Our family feels so fortunate to have a dog that is so loving and good-hearted. We are also thankful that Halle adores Prince.”

It’s no secret that dogs are a man’s best friend – and these smart and kind Weimaraner pups were elated to welcome a new little human buddy in the family. Footage has surfaced of “Frame the Weim” and a sibling who are patiently and very eagerly awaiting the arrival of a little baby brother.

Mommy’s tummy kept on growing and the dogs definitely noticed. Frame always kept on snuggling mommy’s belly and clearly wanted to have a bond with his soon-to-be human brother. The family from Barcelona, Spain, decided to share tons of immensely cute pictures and videos on a dedicated Facebook and Instagram page. These moments before the little boy was born are brilliantly captured and heartwarming, but the best was yet to come.

At last, the wait was finally over.

The family welcomed a healthy baby boy and made sure to take their precautions with the pups. Even though these Weimaraner dogs aren’t aggressive and generally bond well with humans, interacting with a fragile newborn can be somewhat risky.

Luckily, the parents made some preparations. Before they took their baby boy home, they already introduced his smell to the dogs by bringing over one of his blankets from the hospital. Now that the dogs were used to the baby’s scent, the parents were pretty sure that their pups would do everything they could to welcome the little boy into the family – and they sure did.

The parents have shared tons of pictures of their newborn and the Weimaraner dogs and they’re absolutely adorable. You can spot them cuddling, taking care of each other and the dogs even give him small kisses from time to time. You can definitely see that these have already built up such a strong and close bond!

The pups and the baby are inseparable and they love spending time together.

Just like a loyal, protective pup, Frame always keeps an eye on his little boy. The baby also playfully tugs around his ears, but the four footer doesn’t mind at all and plays along gently.
